The
Battle of the Bands concert at UVSC scheduled
for November 9th will not include Hourglass. Apparently
the college does not want Hourglass to defend
its title as the best band in the area. Why? Because
we all know that progressive rockers can actually
play musical instruments, something UVSC considers
to be an unfair advantage. |

The
search is finally over, and Hourglass has a new
lead vocalist, Eric Blood. Work will now continue
at a much quicker rate for the new album. Plans
are to hit the studio in March 2002. |

It
looks like there will be six songs on the next
Hourglass CD, which will give it a running time
of about 70 minutes. Five of the six songs are
nearly complete. One will clock in at over 20
minutes, and at least two others will be more
than 10 minutes. Lyrics are done for five songs.
The goal is to continue writing music while the
band continues auditioning. They have auditioned
many people and are being very picky about the
next singer. They are planning on working very
closely with a couple of potential lead vocalists.
Without question, this new music absolutely rocks.
There will be some new elements to look forward
to. |

Update
from Brick: "While we are auditioning new
singers, we have decided to get busy writing new
material. We have decided to put everything we've
got into the writing process. As a result, the
music is very complex, interesting, and is demanding
every ounce of talent we possess. Some lyrics
are done, and it looks like we're going to have
a couple long epics on the next album." |

Hourglass is auditioning new lead vocalists after
Jon Shumway's departure from the band earlier
this month. Check back soon for updates. |

Don't
forget to wake up bright and early (6:30 AM) July
27th to hear Hourglass on the air with Rock
99's Mick and Allen. |
| 12-Jun-2001: |
The
band just purchased a whole lot of new equipment,
including a new PA system, drum set, and bass
guitar. If you thought Hourglass rocked before... |
| 07-Jun-2001: |
Hourglass
is currently in transition to a new keyboard player,
Jerry Stenquist, and a new drummer, John Dunston.
They've got about 4 hours of music to learn in
a limited amount of time, so they are getting
worked pretty hard. |
