"It's never an easy thing to have
to part with a band member. We felt that this change
would enable us to make the kind of album that we envision
our next one to be. We are glad to welcome Sam Doty
into Hourglass as our new bassist. Sam is an incredibly
talented bass player and will help us be a more diverse
sounding band, so we are of course excited about the
future. His technical skills and creative input will
be a great benefit for what we have planned ahead. We
had jammed with him for a brief period of time a couple
of years ago, and although the timing wasn't right for
him to become a member of Hourglass at that time, it
is the right time now. We also would like to wish Clark
the best of luck in his future musical pursuits.
"Regarding a new album, we are
going to write one. We have actually been writing music
for a couple of months now and I must say it is sounding
incredible so far. I have been busy writing some lyrics
and everyone is really involved in the music. Eric has
written some great things and it looks like this time
it is going to be a group effort, which is how it should
be. We don't have any kind of time frame for a release
other than sometime in 2006. I will say that there will
be another epic on this album and that one of the songs
will be Pawn 2."

"I have been looking forward to
the opportunity of playing with Hourglass for a long
time now. I'm excited about the technical challenge
that it is playing with these guys. I can't wait to
get busy working on the new album."
Sam Doty
"While I'm saddened that Hourglass
has chosen to move forward without me, and was surprised
at the sudden and definitive manner of my dismissal,
I wish Hourglass the best in their future endeavors.
Sam Doty is an old friend of mine and will do a great
job as their bassist. I'm keeping a busy schedule with
my day job and now teaching guitar and bass students,
and I've already signed up to work with Utah-based western
artist Brenn Hill
on a few gigs. I am also now the bass player for positive
progressive rock band Iron
Rod, with whom I will be touring extensively in
Utah this fall and spring, with an album forthcoming
in the next year or so. I look forward to seeing you
all in future Iron Rod crowds, and standing next to
you at future Hourglass shows!"
